Government Affairs Committee (GAC) Application

MISSION: The Government Affairs Committee serves as the advocate for member REALTORS® in tracking public policy issues and protecting the rights and interests of property owners and REALTORS®.

The GAC is held to a high standard: Members comport themselves in a respectful, non-partisan, and industry-focused demeanor, as well as sign a strict Confidentiality Agreement.

The GAC is time intensive: Members attend extra meetings for candidate interviews, SBAOR events with elected officials, city events, council meetings, and issue related meetings that impact the REALTOR® community.

APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP: May be submitted after attending two subsequent months of GAC Meetings. Membership is at the discretion of the Chairs. Please email gina@southbayaor.com upon application completion. *Note: Any SBAOR Member is always welcome to join GAC Meetings as a Guest. Tip: this is a great way to learn!

ATTENDANCE: Failure to attend and be on camera for the entirety (arriving no more than ten minutes late or leaving more than ten minutes prior to adjournment) of three committee meetings in one calendar year as a resignation.

TERM: Members must apply each calendar year and are appointed by the Chairs. Appointments are not guaranteed.

Adherence to meeting rules and staying on topic. Our meetings are guided by Robert’s Rules of Order and by SBAOR Board Policy.
